Mi piacerebbe forse fermare questo istante di tranquillità per un imprecisato numero di ore, per poterlo osservare con calma e analizzare fin nei minimi dettagli. Ma il tempo scorre, e più di una fotografia tutto quello che mi vien da scrivere assomiglia ad un quadro impressionista, in cui con un paio di pennellate si rappresentano tutte le sfumature di un personaggio senza dargli quell’immobilismo, quella staticità tipica del dettaglio: ognuno di noi assomiglia più a un raggio di luce che si rifrange su mille prismi colorati che a una miniatura medioevale, mutevole com’è nel tempo come le ombre sulle pareti di un caminetto.

Son le 5.05, e come dice Leo, questa è l’ora in cui si torna a casa dalla disco, mica l’ora di rimandare il lancio di un pallone! Il sonno sta prendendo il sopravvento, nella fredda ora che precede l’alba, e anche le chiacchiere si sopiscono una ad una, mentre queste vaghe parole cercano di descrivere il dissolversi degli attimi.

Da chi iniziare? Asiago, che a gambe incrociate propone di gonfiare il pallone col fiato, o Duzzo che ascoltando la musica con indosso la giacca catarifrangente aspetta invano la chiamata per il pre-lancio? Marco seduto a contemplare l’intera cattedrale o Leo che vaga da un team all’altro? E Giombi, Ruggero, Spagnolo, Michele, tutti seduti in attesa davanti allo schermo di un portatile o con qualcosa da sgranocchiare in mano…

Cominciamo a sentire la fatica, in questa lunga nottata. E il tempo si sembra proprio diluire, andare avanti a scatti, uno sbadiglio e un caffè ed è passato un altro quarto d’ora senza nessuna novità. Le palpebre pesanti e la musica di sottofondo aiutano a perdere il contatto con la realtà.

Pronti per il lancio, ma il vento non perdona.

All Bexus 10 teams did the last checks and setups on their experiments. I-BATE checked the experiment with additional battery, CASS-E sprayed biological fluids, and SCRAT fixed the pin for the shaft!

Yesterday the Bexus10 Gondola (the one which carries the SCRAT experiment) has been picked up by the Hercules (the yellow launching veichle) to perform a complete launch test.

The countodwon started at 9:00 and the three teams involeved had to simulate all the precedrues to complete a launch. It was also an opportunity to perform further tests with the experiments and also to check the ground station segment onece again.

Everything is ready for the real operations: tonight there will be a decision meeting for a night launch, with the countdown starting at 0:00! Only the weather is against us, but the situation seems to be improoving, knocking wood!

After the RF interference test of yesterday, the two gondolas (Bexus10 and Bexus11) are now in flight configuration, both ready to jump!

Unfortunately the weather conditions are not that good, and the OK from the launch team cannot arrive because of the wind. The forecast gives good possibilities on Friday…

Well, the title is quite explicative!!

Third day in ESRANGE for the SCRAT team, the experiment passed all the tests we did, also with the e-link connection and with the Bexus battery pack.

SCRAT is now mounted into the gondola, waiting for the interefernces test toghether with the other experiments.

Looks pretty nice, isn’t it?!
